SED Stages Its Largest Show in 42-Years
SED (Site Equipment Demonstration) is in top gear and going at full throttle in preparation for the forthcoming show at Rockingham Motor Speedway, Corby Northamptonshire from 13th – 15th May 2008.
This year’s event is officially the largest SED ever staged in its 42-year history. As always with the UK’s premier all-action construction event visitors can expect to see the latest product and machinery launches from some of the worlds key industry players.
New at this year’s show will be an additional undercover pavilion, which is home to the new Builders Box Live event, which in partnership with key industry associations including the HAE (Hire Association Europe), FMB (Federation of Master Builders) and the DSA (Drilling and Sawing Association), the event will accommodate suppliers of all essential building products and services and provide a ‘One Stop’ shop for professional builders. There are regular live demonstrations planned and seminars hosted by the HAE.
Exhibitors include Hitachi Power Tools, Fein Industrial Power Tools, Hilti, Tyrolit, Husqvarna Construction Products UK, Makita UK, Bonakemi, Ladderfix, Brokk UK, Gerry Rose Construction Sales and Trend Cutting Tools.
As one would expect from the National Event for Construction the line up of Excavators, Earthmovers, Minis, Midis, Wheeled Loaders and Backhoes is huge.
Among the manufacturers will be, Komatsu, Volvo Construction Equipment, Bobcat, Takeuchi, Ammann Equipment, Caterpillar, Terex, Case Construction, Bomag, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Sany Heavy Industry, Leibherr and JCB
JCB, in addition to its static stand, is planning to stage the ‘JCB Operator Challenge’ for the first time at SED, where plant operators can test their skills on JCB’s machines.
Ammann Equipment will be showcasing several new machines from both the Ammann compaction equipment and Ammann Yanmar mini excavator product ranges.
Volvo Construction Equipment will showcase representative models from its line up of C range excavators, F series wheeled loaders as well as new models from Volvo compact equipment and Volvo Road machinery.
Cranes and access equipment are well represented at this year’s event. Companies reaching for the sky at this year’s show include Boecker, Haulotte, Genie Europe, Vanson Cranes, Ladybird Crane Sales, Universal Cranes, GGR-Unic, Upright Powered Access, NRC Plant, E. H. Hassell & Sons, Cranesbusiness BV and Russon Access Platforms.
Universal Cranes is the sole U.K & Ireland agent for the supply of Zoomlion truck mounted telescopic cranes, lattice boom crawler cranes, and Ormig 'Pick & Carry' mobile cranes. The company is returning to SED with 3 new cranes, which have never been seen in the UK before.
Boecker will be exhibiting at SED for the first time this year. On display will be the Aluminium trailer crane AHK 31/1500 PLC, which is the new top model of the AHK series. Also on show will be the junior series, which is the compact product line of Boecker’s construction lifts.
Netherlands based company Cranebusiness BV will also be coming to SED for the first time and is expecting to bring 2 telescopic crawler cranes from its Fushun and Logicrane ranges.
2008 will be the first time the E. H. Hassell & Sons has exhibited at SED for a number of years and is returning to the show to launch the brand new Sennebogen 608 Multi Crane. This will be the first time the crane has been seen at a UK show.
If demolition, site clearance, or reclamation of construction waste is your game then head straight for the Site Clearance Zone, where exciting demonstrations of the screeners, mulchers and crushers are always a big crowd puller.
Exhibitors to look out for are Anross, Molson Group, CGCS Midlands, Edwards Machinery, Global Recycling Solutions, HT Services, McCloskey International, M & K Recycling Solutions, Dig A Crusher and Portafill.
Baughans will be launching a brand new 24 x 15 tracked crusher, which is currently in production. Also on show will be the updated version of the 30x15 single-toggle jaw crusher. Baughans is also taking along its mammoth barrel screen and complete picking station.
Edwards Machinery has recently been appointed as dealers for the UK and Ireland for the Flip Screen, which is a new style of screening bucket from Australia, that can be fitted to machines varying from skid steer loaders to 35t excavators.
At SED for the first time this year the company will be demonstrating the Flip Screen 530 on a Doosan 430 Skid Steer, as well as a static display of equipment.
The Truck Zone has found its perfect home at Rockingham Motor Speedway and has been expanded by 40% this year; once again there will be a gruelling 4x4 test area where the off-roaders and ATV’s will be put through their paces.
Scania, Isuzu, Mercedes Benz, Vauxhall, Nissan, Hino, Ssangyong, Broshuis and Hyva are amongst the confirmed exhibitors.
Hyva is returning to SED showcasing the latest hookloader model, skiploader and tipping gear displays and Kennis Crane demonstrations. The new HyvaLift hookloader will also be on the stand.
This year SHAWtrack Services is launching its new SHAWwedge Ramp System, which is completely unique to the market.
The company is also launching its new Twin Deck Car Transporter, which has been developed for 7.5 tonners. There will also be a lot more presence from SHAWhire as the company has significantly expanded its fleet with new crane lorries and beaver tails.
Renault Trucks UK has confirmed that it will be bringing its brand new 8x4 Premium Lander for tippers and mixers to the show, also on the stand will be a single cab Mascott Hook Loader, a Maxity Tipper and drop side and there is a possibility that a Premium Lander 6x2 Beavertail will also be on display.
Concrete products are also a solid feature of the show – there are some innovative new launches this year and a number of new concrete exhibitors.
First time exhibitors Anchor Bay is using SED to introduce its bespoke product 'Monotub' which is a disposable column former for Circular, Square, Rectangle and bespoke shape R.C. concrete applications.
Making its SED debut is BMS Bau-Maschinen, which is an internationally expanding producer of building machinery and a specialist for screed mixing and conveying equipment. The company has chosen SED to introduce a new machine to the UK.
Minipump UK is the sister company to Wright Minimix Ltd. Minipump UK is coming to SED for the first time this year. The company is exhibiting two of its products at this years show.
The minipump is a compact fully featured mobile concrete pump mounted on an Iveco Daily Van 7.5T chassis designed to provide a cost effective pumping solution to the small end concrete market.
The minipump is designed for placing concrete in those places where only a pipeline is needed (or can access) and where there may be restricted access for the vehicle.
Also on the stand will be the company’s Weigh Cell Mixer truck. It is fitted with a patented, weights and measures, approved weighing system, which allows multi-drop deliveries. The cost of the dead time and travel running to and from the mixing plant is substantially reduced.
Other Concrete Zone exhibitors include Xact Mixers, Somero, Mixamate Concrete &Screed, Armcon Cementech and Peri.
Last but by no means least is the SED Pavilion, which is home to almost 100 exhibitors, which help keep the construction industry ‘on the move’.
Ranging from plant theft prevention, insurance, hydraulics, engines, oils and lubes to training services recruitment and software – the pavilion has got it covered.
Exhibitors include Air-Seal Products, Gates Hydraulics, Nike Power Equipment, 4 U Recruitment, Border Barrier Systems, Igus UK, Butters AMT and Global Track Warehouse.
Camwatch is at back in the pavilion this year after having a tremendous show debut in 2007. The company specialise in security and can save companies bundles of cash with their unique Camwatch TOWER system. Camwatch will also be launching a new product.
Custodia will once again be showing its theft recovery tracking solution, the Appello, as well as, the Gemini Personal Tracking System and the MILEAGE management system, part of the Road Angel Group, which was launched at last year’s event.
